Whereabouts are you located? What are your contact details?Originally posted by Just1morethen View PostI'm a scottish based accountant and I deal with about 100 contractors. I don't want to be accused of spamming so thats as far as I am going to go.
I don't think a local accountant is necessarily an advantage but some people seem to prefer to deal with local guys so that they can pop round and see them if needs be. Personally, I deal with my clients by email and phone as that is how they seem to want to work. Although, some of the contractors I deal with are a bit "old school" so they like to meet us in person.

Thanks Gonzo,
it does say in the CUK directory that SJD is "Recommended by the Sunday Times and the PCG." but that is by the by.
Understand and agree that being a specialist is criteria above being local but was hoping for a local specialist
Cake and eat it and all that.

1. I don't think that the PCG actually recommend SJD, it is just that SJD are one of a number of accountants that have completed the PCG quality accountant scheme.Originally posted by scottyk View PostHi,
I am looking for a recommendation for an accountancy in Scotland (preferably in or around Glasgow) for my 1 man operation.
I see PCG recommend SJD, does anyone in Scotland have experience with them or any other recommendations? Their fee seems slightly high to me but I'm willing if they have a good rep.
This is my first post here so I'd just like to say a huge welcome to me and good luck in all my future endeavors.
2. If you are operating a one-person contractor company there is no need for your accountant to be anywhere near you. I personally think that it is better to deal with an accountant that specialises in this type of set up rather than a local one, and that is what I do.
I have never met my accountant in real life, and only spoken to her once on the phone. That's after 3 years.
