Its awful you had an unfortunate time with an umbrella company.

You stated that sick pay was one of the examples of why you shouldn't use an Umbrella company.

Most Umbrella companies will pay you statuary sick pay as standard, without taking any money from your salary (you are their employee after all)

Did you have the option of claiming statutory sick pay? or did they just deduct the 4%
Hi, what I wrote about the sick pay wasnt why you shoulnt use an umbrella, just why you shouldnt use work2live for the way that they conduct this activity. Regarding what you wrote that the umbrella themselves would pay you for holiday pay, i cant see how that works. im sure that what you wrote cant be true, but im not an expert.

I'm quite sure No umbrella company is going to pay this out of their own money!
If you work under an Umbrella company, you are technically their employee, which means you have exactly the same employment rights as a permanent member of staff.

They pay it out of their own money, then claim the majority back through the revenue.

yes- i was with them for 9 months.

They are an excellent example of why someone shouldnt use an umbrella company.

    They dont answer emails.
They have a very confusing pay slip.
they hold back 4% of your money as holiday pay without asking if you that is what you want. I think that they do this to gain interest by keeping the money in their account. When I joined they said this was optional, but then just did it anyway.
they fail to offset submitted expenses every now and then, and when you ask why they pretend that you were late sending the expenses in.
they need chasing up for every request you make, and i mean everything.

so, i woudnt recommend using them.
