I would join the Qdos Freelancer club and get them to do a quick check, just so you at least have some evidence of taking reasonable steps and all that.

A second opinion never hurts, especially if you can get one for just £100. They might spot something that the other company didn't. Anyway, Bauer and Cottrell and QDos often come highly recommended but neither of them are qualified lawyers.

If you want a more basic check, then Qdos contractor club (or something like that) is much cheaper and gives you a few checks a year.

Contract already "passed" B&C, should I get QDOS to look into?
My next contract passed a B&C check by another contractor back in early October (I've seen details of the review), but I'm wondering if I should get QDOS to also take a look into it. I have in the back of my mind something about a freelancer being required "Under IR35, freelancers need to have shown that they have undertaken ‘reasonable steps’ to ascertain that their status lies outside of IR35" (from QDOS web site).
My gut feel is that for the sake of £100 it's worthwhile - or is this a case of overkill?Tags: None
