We've used QDOS, as have some of our clients, and we're all happy with their service. Havn't used anyone else, so can't comment on the others.

The rules apply to me because I DO work as Ltd. Co. :f

Due to the fact you have a LTD and the very poor results HMRC have had in court, you should go outside anyway

I use Qdos for mine, and have always found them very good.

It depends on what you are expecting from the service, though.

From the little I know about it, Qdos, SJD, B&C will do a check focussing on IR35 compliance. They will not check for clauses that do not make much business sense, though. Lawspeed would do an IR35 and business check.

If I'm wrong, please correct me, but that's just the impression I get.

Off to email my new contract to Qdos for review in a second...

I should think the agency has an agreement/contract with the end client, will I need to get this checked as well as I've heard contracts between agencies and clients and agencies and candidates are quite different

I've left it a bit last minute but could I potentially go back and change clauses in my contract at a later date as I start Monday and it will take a week to get it assessed - longer if I pay by cheque!

Do many of you use this kind of service and the insurance policy that some of these companies offer?
Must give a vote for Bauer and Cotrell - very good. Responded to me the same day with a telephone discussion.

I also appreciate that its not just the contract that is assessed for its IR35ness but also the contractors whole method of working....

He's probably one of those agents who thinks he knows everything about IR35. You get a lot of them. I bet he claims the contract is IR35 compliant as well.

I'm sure most companies will undertake a review urgently if you ask them nicely.

RE: Need IR35 status check - Recommendations??

If time is short, simply point this out to your reviewer and see whether they are able to undertake the review within a shorter timescale.

If changes are ultimately needed to the terms then one way of dealing with this is to simply agree core terms with the agency in advance (i.e. start date, location, and pay basis) as long as it is clear and recorded that all other terms are subject to negotiation. This would give you a bit of breathing room. Your reviewer should also be able to help with this.
