I thought I had to give my car reg and make and model on my expense form but I think I imagined it ....

Fivetimes.... if your wife's motor clocks up the mileage and you are insured on it then I can't see how they could prove otherwise.

I'm not an expert but if you get investigated, HMRC have been known to check service records etc. Just make sure that all stacks up.
I'm wondering about getting a pick-up truck (Van) as a company vehicle

Not that I am actually claiming the mileage (yet...), but where does it get recorded about what car I use to go to work ? I could have been using the wifes ??Originally posted by Hiram King Of Tyre View PostSounds like fraud to me.....
What happens when you've claimes 25k miles but your MOTs and service records show that you've only done half that?
I still use the car at weekends and these miles will ensure that the claimed and actual miles are not too far out.... Just curious what people would do...

Sounds like fraud to me.....Originally posted by FiveTimes View PostI estimated I would be doing about 25K mile per year, but found out that a permie at my clients site lives in the same village as myself. So we have decided to car share... It cuts my actual mileage down, but the big question is should I still claim the 40p/mile when I'm a passenger ??

If you have a company vehicle, can you still pay yourself 40p/mile for using a private vehicle?

Yeah. Last month I managed to relieve the company of £2500 tax free. Shame my 40p/mile runs out in about 2670 miles time

Yup. Usual rule of thumb is:Originally posted by Sockpuppet View PostSo what would the best time to have a coy car be. Looks like low business miles and high personal miles which I am at the opposite end of.
High personal, low business = company car.
Low personal, high business = claim expenses from company.

Is having a company car ever a good idea....
Worked out that in the last year I have done 50,000 miles for the company (genuine miles - not personal miles I am making company miles).
Is it ever a good idea to get a coy car £16k list price, 143g/km co2.
It looks as though the tax is based on a per month tax and not on the amount of miles.
So what would the best time to have a coy car be. Looks like low business miles and high personal miles which I am at the opposite end of.Tags: None
