After april with the umbrella you won't be able to claim expenses, unless you travel between sites or they send you on a course etc.

enjoy the school life for a while, but we all have to grow up sometime and move on. Unless your gary glitter.

Thanks this is what i thought really as it is my first proper IT job, I've been here nearly a year now and i love working here, just hate the crap pay and no holiday pay. I have been looking for other jobs in schools but they are hard to come by.

So am i right in thinking that i shouldn't claiming expenses?

Reed asked me to use an umbrella company. Which i am but i'm worried as the umbrella company say that i can claim for subsistence and travel every week but from reading on here that appears not to be the case. I only travel to work and back and never work on any other sites.

Reed are now trying to get me to use Giant or Focusedconsulting, as they are "HMRC compliant" apparently. When i phoned up Focused they told me i could claim £11.20 a day subsistence bumping my pay up by another £20 a week. But it doesn't seem right.

Am i correct in thinking that i cannot claim these expenses?

Is there anyway i can get reed to pay me through their payroll as it looks like i will be worse off without any claims for travel and subsistance.

    Thanks for your advice.
