Looks like I will have to get the employers liability thingy then - oh well !!

Guest repliedI thought it was the rules for Employers Liability that have changed. A company no longer has to have Employers Liability Insurance if it has only one employee.
How have the rules for Public Liability insurance changed?

Guest repliedThe Rules regarding Employers liability insurance have recently changed but if you have your wife on the payroll you are supposed to have it. It is also worth considering taking it out as an indicator that you are properly in business for IR35 purposes.
Professional Indemnity is another insurance that is worth considering particularly as many agents seem to insist on it nowadays.
There are several others including personal accident and sickness that may be a responsible option if you have dependants or heavy financial commitments.

They have a good reputation and are generally recommended for IT Contractors.

Guest repliedI think Employee Liability insurance is compulsory, but I think there are plans to make it optional for very small owner-operated firms. Professional Indemnity is worthwhile too. There's a little specialist company in Manchester called Caunce O'Hara that is good at it. On the tax insurance side I'm less clued up but I'd imagine the PCG is still the best place to start.

IT Contractor Insurances
I don't have any insurances for my IT limited company at the moment. I am operating outside of IR35 and pay my wife, who is the other shareholder a very small salary.
What is the general advice on insurances nowadays and where is the best place to get them, if needed ?Tags: None
