    Actually - the amount I put in was extreme - but the actual amount paid is BELOW the rent-a room scheme amount - so she shouldn't have any issues
    I just felt like putting a daft amount on the post!

    And so will Mr Landlord's Tax Inspector. A nice juicy tax evader to prosecute.

    Hi All,

    I'm thinking about moving closer to work temporarily because the journey to Maidenhead everyday is killing me. As I understand this expense can be claimed against tax, one of the options available is to rent a room in a house close to work (it's cheap and its got broadband), however I was wondering how to get a receipt from somebody like this when they are not a registered business?

    Any ideas?
