Uniform yes: cleaning allowance as per HMRC is claimed.
Take the point on ink etc, claimed 70 for a couple of cartridges and paper and notepads. I am encouraging her about receipts.
I **think** the minor addition to car insurance for business use becomes irrelevant since claiming at AMAPS rates rather than actual costs apportioned

Self Employed tax return
Partner started being s/e last year. She delivers care services to private clients in the local area.
So it's tax return time. Obviously I want to minimise tax, but not take the micky.
The simplified expense regime seems suitable, given it avoids calculations of capital allowances too much etc. Though I am of course open to it if need be.
I have identified, for the purposes of a sanity check:-
She was active for 5 months of the last tax year (full time going forwards)
Mileage, 3500 - 1575
Medical parking permit - 60 year
Other car parking - 100 year
Subsistence 660 - here I am claiming 5/day as the single meal rate. The job is itinerant in nature. She normally leaves the house around 7 am and returns around 7pm. This pattern still seems to leave open the single meal rate.
[For the car capital allowances, apportioning private/business seems to be only slightly better so way more hassle]
Accountancy - just my travel costs related
Insurance - as charged.
Home office - 10/month based on 25-50 hours. [Total costs for property around 4k. Approx 1.5 hours / day but by the time it is scaled by rooms/ hours/24 etc it comes to about the same.
Broadband 27/month - 50% of the cost
stationary/ink etc - 10/month
Mobile 40/month - 80% of contract cast [The everybody can have a mobile regime doesn't seem to apply when s/e]
Any suggestions for things I may have forgotten, or shouldn't be claiming.Tags: None
