ERN required?

Afternoon,

Currently being chased by an insurance company for a policy that ran from 2015 / 2016 for my ERN number in order to add it to the ELTO database.

I've already advised them that my company has been closed down.

Do I really need to provide this if the cover is no longer valid and my company no longer exists?
Especially if I was the only employee?
