This was covered in a post a while back, is there no archive on the site !?
In short I shut my own down, it wasn't too much hastle. Make sure you leave zero or a negligible amount in the Co accounts after your last set of accounts. And also make sure you fill in all the other forms ( or write a letter ) for P11D, PAYE, VAT etc etc The various telephone help lines were quite useful.
I did it because an accountant who was supposed to close it down while I was overseas didn't do his job. If you trust the accountant to do the job properly maybe just pay the bill !?

Can I wind up my company myself?
I've received an email from my accountant who want to charge me £260 to wind up my company, plus accounts fees. The accounts are up to date and I haven't used it at all this year, so the final accounts should be extremely easy. I have downloaded and filled out 652a. He (my accountant) says that it is not so simple, the IR will object and the whole process will drag out for ages. Is this correct? Why would he want to charge so much - is there a part of the process I'm missing? In what way can he avoid the objections of the IR when I can't?
Any advice extremely welcome.
Cheers.Tags: None
