Is there a legal requirement for the above? Why is it necessary?

You also need the Memorandum & Articles of Association.
You also need to send a number of documents to Companies House advertising the share structures, registered office, appointment of Director and Secretary, and probably other things.

The simpliest way is to ask an accountant to do that for you.

It's necessary because there is a law that says it's necessary.

Why is there this law? - Absolutely no idea, who cares!

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. Yes.

For about £150 set up fee the company formation agent will provide all of these.

Mrs Gonzo sets up bank accounts for companies at her bank and her bank always ask to see 1 and 3.

I think you'll need 2 if you intend to pay yourself dividends.
