50k is only for those coming off student or PSW visas, OP would need the £200k, however it's well known this route is a cash cow for UKVI, most are rejected basically because the majority of the applicants are incredibly thick.

Bear in mind T1E doesn't allow contracting thought the waters are muddy as you need to employ certain number of Brits after the first year....

50K investments these days are not good, but I have colleagues who have gone thru £200K investment route.

You will not likely get any work at all in the UK unless you operate through a UK Limited Company or an Umbrella. Neither of these are available to you on your Visa. UK based agencies will only remit payment to UK banking accounts, except under certain exceptional circumstances which have been pre-agreed.

You cannot do productive work on a business visa, those are for meetings, presentations etc.

There is no way currently of contracting on a visa in UK since the demise of Tier 1 General.

Foreigner Working in UK as a Contractor

I'm an IT consultant currently living in Hong Kong. I'm interested in working in UK as a contractor and I've obtained a Business Visitor Visa. I understand I won't be able to be hired by any UK company, but this type of visa will allow me to work for my OWN company while living in UK (for less than 6 months). I have a sole proprietorship company of my own registered in Hong Kong. My plan is to sign contract with UK companies through my Hong Kong company and then work as a contractor (working for my own company) in UK.

My questions are:

1) Is this type of arrangement feasible?
2) Is their any special requirements I need to meet for my Hong Kong based companies (such as having a business bank account)?

I'd appreciate your advises. Thanks a lot!
