    Contracting in Bulgaria?

Appreciate this was some time ago, but did the contract happen in the end, and how was it?

I'm interested in what the contract situation there is like now?

    Cheers

I am considering a short term (90 day) contract in Bulgaria. This would be my limited co. through a UK agency to a Bulgarian client and working onsite.

Does anyone know if this will be a huge financial hassle re: taxes or does the 183 day rule cover things nicely? I have read some HMRC and other umbrella co. 'advice' but not really sure what the situation is.

As a supplementary question - has anyone contracted there and recommend/advise strongly against it?

    TIA

PCG / IPSE tax helpline can help with this, they spent some time researching the relevant dual-taxation treaties and came back to me with all the info I needed when I had a similar question, albeit for a different country.

You can be only happy if you can tax your income in Bulgaria as the tax is flat 10% for both personal tax and corporate tax. Consult with your accountant and potentially the agency as they might have knowledge on the matter if they serve Bulgarian clients, just don't trust them completely

You need to read the Bulgarian tax authorities website. They may have it in English then again they may not.

You cannot rely on the 183 day rule as while it may apply to a company it may not apply to the staff working for that company. Remember you and your limited are not the same legal entity.
