      Strength in numbers

was also employed by Edge for a few years and have just received my letter for 09/10 tax year - everyone seems to agree on a few things a) edge are no more b) appeal c) start to dig out all the old paperwork ready to defend what was a perfectly legal arrangement, and d) it makes sense to take legal advice as a group !

Can you please add PM rights please.

Got My Letter on the 15th - will use template to send to HMRC

        Hi All,

Same letter received for 09/10, tried contacting Edge only to get bounced emails and found this forum. I would like to be part of the group representation so I will find out out to get PM access. As always this is a nerve racking time! cant believe Michelle has not informed us of her next steps, she was very helpful last year when I received a similar letter.

Thanks to you all on this forum as knowing others like me are out there and forming a group is reassuring.

Administrator, if you can add me to the PM list I would be grateful, I did read a post somewhere that there was a link at the bottom of the page, so I will try to find if you plan to point me there.

I spoke to Michelle earlier today, she can be reached on 08455919552, she was very helpful but isn't with Edge any more. She suggested that if you have already appealed once before, that you appeal again against the '09/'10 demand with a basic note. Something along the lines of "thank you for your correspondence, I do not agree with your assessment and therefore wish to appeal. Please postpone the collection of the tax due".

Another one in the Edge boat

Without wanting to sound like an echo...

...I was employed by Edge for a few years and in February I got a demand for 2008/2009 and last week I got 2009/2010. I was shocked when my email to Michelle bounced back and found this forum shortly thereafter. I feel a lot less alone now that I know there are a lot of other people in this rather unpleasant boat. Echoing someone else's comments earlier, I don't know about tax nor the law and I had understood from Edge that EBTs were an HMRC approved scheme, so I feel pretty disappointed that this doesn't appear to be the case.

Please can ADMIN grant me PM rights and if anyone can advise how to join any group representation then I would be most thankful.

I don't seem to be able to send PM's yet. Please can ADMIN check my account to see if it's enabled?

Hi all. Just joined and also just had a letter from HMRC for year 2009/10. Getting in touch for best advice.

Quite a few of the posts talk about letters covering earlier tax years. Are these older letters and has there been any communication back after the appeal n postponement? Thanka

I left Edge/Norla during 2010 and have been with another one called Cascade since. They have employed a tax specialist for their schemes, and still very positive about the ability to bat back HMRC. I spoke to them today, and would give me advice on the Edge situation if any further letters or demands are received.

Good stuff. I will respond soon and keep the thread up to date on my experiences. It's more annoying than worrying in my opinion. The more we treat this as an irritation rather than a real issue, the stronger we will be.
