Then we must send a gunboat forthwith.

Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

The problem with most Arab countries is that western style democracy does not suit them, they need a dictator (Saddam, Assad, Gaddafi and those royal nutters in Saudi), to keep all of the various factions in line (they all think their particular brand of fairy stories is the right one and anyone who says different is an enemy). Most western terrorism stems from Saudi, who lets face it if it wasn't swimming in oil and home to so many holy sites would have been invaded/bombed by now...

The root problem is religion and believing in imaginary gods. How many have to die for what amounts to delusions?

Spot on with the latter point highlighted above, the first point is what the propaganda wants us to believe. Lebanon has managed to work within a democratic framework, the problem with the other countries stems mainly from extremism which if it went away (again the Saudi problem) then I am sure we would have much more peaceful democracies.

Iran (which admittedly is not an Arab country but in the same region) managed democracy until the CIA toppled it and replaced it with a dictatorship.

I think it is proven that Iran is one of the more democratic nations in the world despite what you or the media would have us believe. For a start they got rid of the old President and replaced him with one who appears to really know his politics. Yes I know about all the supreme leader tosh you will come out with but every democracy is equally if not more restricted for one reason or another. Whether that be Israeli lobby, Neocon, Monarchy, unions, constitution etc.

It is not proven in any way, unless you can show me the proof.
