I'll tell you how come we ended up with so many years of New Labour in two words..

    Old Tory.

Best of a (very) bad job IMO.

      I voted Labour in 1997

I'm from Old Labour stock and I didn't realise the monster that New Labour would become. At least that's my excuse...

        APOLITICAL INTELLECTUALS

        One Day
        the apolitical intellectuals
        of my country
        will be interrogated
by the simplest of our people.
They will be asked what they did
        when their nation died out
        slowly, like a sweet fire,
        small and alone.
        No one will ask them
        about their dress,
        their long lunch breaks,
no one will want to know
        about their sterile combats
with "the idea of the nothing"
        no one will care about
        their higher financial learning.
        They won't be questioned
        on Greek mythology,
        or regarding their self-disgust
        when someone within them
        begins to die
        the coward's death.
        They'll be asked nothing
        about their absurd justifications,
        born in the shadow
        of the total lie.
        On that day
        the simple men will come.
        Those who had no place
        in the books and poems
        of the apolitical intellectuals,
        but daily delivered
        their bread and milk,
        those who mended their clothes,
        those who drove their cars,
who cared for their dogs and gardens
and worked for them, and they'll ask:
"What did you do when the poor
        suffered, when tenderness
and life burned out in them?"
Apolitical intellectuals of my sweet country,
you will not be able to answer.
        A vulture of silence
        will eat your gut.
Your own misery will pick at your soul.
And you will be mute in your shame.

          Down with politics

Join my new party - the Indifferent Party. Guaranteed to get at least 65% of the non-vote at local elections.

              Thanks, I feel better now.
You know we were wondering what was the point of dumbing down the education system to the point where you could get a first in something-or-other-ology and yet still have trouble remembering which was your arse and which was your elbow?
I think we've just found the answer, boys.

I know a few who did in '97, but not since. It's amazing how many of them are so utterly ashamed at voting NewLie they still don't like talking about it.

Anyone who does or did vote labour should share the responsibility.

Not to mention they should be placed in Stocks in the town centre and ridiculed then have rotten fruit thrown at them !

Must admit to voting Labour as a naive left-winger in.... 1983.
That is the only time I've ever voted, but have just got on the electoral roll here and will be voting FDF (ie MR).
