Well my opinion is he is a knob, it wasn't funny to me and made him sound like a knob. So I called him a knob.

I have no opinion on Jo b at all, I can't remember one thing she has ever said.

Correct. I'm not a poof, and my wife and daughter wouldn't be so f***in' over sensitive.

I would imagine most men have had conversations like that in the past.

I think the main problem is for some reason there is an expected level of 'behaviour' from people and if they do not achieve that then other people feel they have a right to complain.

Problem is that expected level has never been agreed it is just a standard set by mung bean quiche eating socialists.

I don't care if your a poof or not. Many men have a wife and daughter and are still in the closet, your personal circumstances don't interest me at all.

You may not have an opinion on Jo Brand (whatever that means) but she evidences the point rather well. Or do you think it is good for women to play the victim?

He made an innuendo in an email to a friend.

Now I don't share jokes or make off colour remarks in my email because I worked with a fairly devout Sikh lady and she had access to my email for when I was off. Also the company I work for has a very strict policy on such things.

But I have seen some very popular (with their female staff - they all treat him like an uncle) managers share similar jokes / make similar comments.

unless there is more I think its a follow the money situation.
                On email or in person?

                There is a difference.

If you make such comments on work email then a lot of people can access them.

In fact I know some people whose ex-employers when making redundancies have a dig through work emails for stuff like that to see if they can sack people instead of giving them a payout.

No opinion on Jo Brand means that I really have no idea of anything she has said or written.
