Ministers say they are responding to concern that the devices - which can contain nicotine - normalise smoking and undermine the smoking ban.
          What next, banning nicotine patches?

I don't smoke, but now I think its time to give these ministers a painful wedgie.

Ban a product that produces a harmless vapour!

The reason seems to be that it can be difficult to distinguish whether the "smoke" is from a real cigarette or form an e-cigarette, and so if they are not banned, the smoking ban may be undermined.

The more we can do to discourage smoking and mock smoking the better, although I do support any help we can give to assist smoking addicts to give up their habit, although not at the cost of undermining the war on tobacco.

Which is the dichotomy e-cigs have provided. They're very effective at helping people quit smoking, far more than patches and gums. Harmless food grade propylene glycol, found in food and asthma inhalers. Nicotine is a stimulant like caffeine, don't see the problem and certainly no second hand effects with e-cigs. Too many people have been caught up in the hype.

It would be a shame they were banned. I've seen many of my friends that have struggled to give up, do so with e-cigs, including GF#1.

I don't think mocking is particularly helpful, although the pharma industry would be very happy if e-cigs were regulated out of the industry.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

We really need a thumbs down button on CUK. But in the meantime this will have to do ..

                    STFU!

P.S. What I mean is why in the World should anyone need to discourage mock smoking? What business is it of theirs? You may as well want to discourage coffee drinking!

Should be banned on the basis of being a bit ish. If you want to smoke, do it properly. Or don't.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
