It does make sense. In 1999 Putin removed gay relations from mental disorders registry, so he took pro gay stance in comparison to the Soviet regime (predecessor of the Communist Party) which was instructing children that:

The anti-Putin thing is largely driven by Americans. For some strange reason the Americans have decided that the Russians are the new bad guys.
Maybe to distract us from the Yankee retreat from Afghanistan? Or perhaps bombing the Ayrabs just got a bit boring..Comment
