The Germans are walking tall in the eurozone, but just how rich are they? - Telegraph

In April, an ECB survey caused a furore by suggesting that whereas median net household wealth was just over €50,000 in Germany, in Greece the figure was just over €100,000, in Spain €180,000, and in Cyprus over €260,000. You can imagine how that went down on the Cologne Omnibus.

For a start, Germany may have sold lots of Mercedes and BMWs to Greece and that makes the export figures look good. But the Greeks cannot pay for them. Instead, Germany has "loaned" Greece the money. Yet there isn't a hope in Hades of all this money being paid back.
Once the Euro breaks up the figures will look very different. Nothing to happen until after German elections in September - but 2014 looks like it might be a fun year. Hopefully soon Italy will pull the plug on the whole rotten scheme and then those who backed the Euro will be sent to Nuremburg for judgement.

But that does not account for all of it. British workers are relatively well paid, work relatively long hours and, (compared with some countries), at least until recently, are comparatively lightly taxed.
No, I was just pointing out the bits you left out. This is what Tories are good at, just showing the bits that reflect well on them, leaving out the rest which might just balance it out. A trick used by politicians to great effect...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

BTW, the survey(s) are here: ECB: Household Finance and Consumption Network. You might want to have a read of them and extrapolate the same figures as a journalist working to his, and his papers political master's, agenda...

You might like to see that the UK is not in the main report as funnily enough they're not in the Euro (the report was by the ECB - European Central Bank) so where did the Telegraph come up with their figures?
