All jobs have an element to them that is boring, that's why they are jobs and not hobbies.

There is plenty you can do other than having a b!tch about the good old days.

Is it really the work you do that you don't like, or the rules you have to follow in order to do the work? If the former, consider retraining and maybe get out of IT if there is no IT role which you are interested in/capable of doing. If the latter, look for work elsewhere or see if you can offer suggestions for better working practises.
