Seeing as this seems to be the most sensible option the way things are going, I've been thinking.

I could walk into well paying jobs in Germany and Switzerland, but don't like the weather and need to learn German.

US is another possibility as my skills would probably allow me to be sponsored by a co. But I think the US has long term issues of its own.

Malaysia, Singapore appeal quite a bit. Going to check this out in the summer as part of holidays.

But I would guess Australia (where again, my skills would be in demand) is beginning to look like the best compromise: weather, the Asia effect, English speaking. Only problem is its full of ozzies.

Sasguru couldn't get into Aus at all, the stupid fook doesn't realise you can't even apply after 40 anymore, not on the 'Skilled Migration ticket, and given he's a sociopathic liar, I am not too sure many women would marry him either. i looked into this.
You can apply after 40 you simply get less points on the age criteria, which you have to make up somewhere else.
As a Chartered Statistician I score highly on the Approved Occupations List, so does my wife.
Or I can sell my properties and take the cash - Let's just say it's a tidy sum and they wouldn't say no.
I've already had an agency offering me a sponsored visa of some kind.

As a Registered Authentic English Village Idiot I score exceptionally highly, and this is a quality much-prized in some of the more remote communities in the Northern Territories.
Add to that the fact that Mrs SG has represented her County at dwarf-throwing and we are a very attractive prospect for any redneck backwater looking to get themselves on the International Bonehead map!

Just looked into this - Oz don't have a "wealthy incomer" permit until you are 55, unlike a few other countries I researched. And then you need £500K Oz dollars, which isn't anything at all.
