I was there for 4 years, am Putney way now. The shouting sounds about right, full of old boys ignored by their wives.

The bar is open to the public, fact that the loo is just outside is their design error loads of people use it!

Well to be fair the bloke who chastised me did later on say I could carry on using the loo, because I spent a bit of time talking about my boat, the risks I was taking by not having an engine cut-out string, trim, and rules of the river.

I went past Putney on Tuesday as well - so this week I've completed Woolwich to Teddington lock - the tidal thames upstream from Woolwich. Most pleasant and incident-free..
