    Re: Will not happen

    Utter rubbish Jab.

    It's a legitimate question.

I've not asked or presumed to know what is going on, if anything, in Chico's mind. That's down to him and his interpretation, as you say.

I presented him with a question.

He has so far failed to answer it decisively.

      Re: Will not happen

Jabber, the nature of faith is fundamental to most, if not all, religions. You can't believe "a bit", or try and interpret faith. You might not like it, but the nature of faith really is black/white or yes/no.

        Re: Will not happen

Hold on a second - something is wrong here. A motley crew of atheists and doom merchants are lecturing me on the Bible? On questions of faith? BGG I have said it once and I will say it again - God will not ask will to do that - its not in his nature. Period. Sasguru - we you quote are consequences of the fall - when humans rejected God and fell for the sweet talk of satan. We reject God in our homes, classrooms and offices and even in some places of worship and then when the going gets tough we start screaming out at the injustice of it all. Lucifer - Satan himself quoted the Bible to Jesus and like him you do want to take into account the entirety of the issue. The likes of Gideon and David etc enjoyed God's blessings when they obeyed his will but being humans they disobeyed and each time they suffered the consequences. Now I break for lunch.

          Re: Will not happen

There is a simple answer BGG which I have given you. It is neither yes or no because the question is illogical. Go and ask an agnostic whether there is a god, a simple yes or no answer will suffice.

            Re: Will not happen

Chico, I think you miss the point. God asks men of faith to do terrible things and they do them because they believe in Him. He has done it before and He will do it again. Attempting to avoid thinking about the issue of faith by saying "God would not ask me to do anything unsavoury" is intellectual and moral bankruptcy. It is the hard choices and how we respond to them that define us in God's eyes.

Belief and faith are not easy, and you do yourself and your fellows a disservice with smug avoidance of the issue. One has to suffer and make sacrifices for one's faith, otherwise it is worthless.

Who forced you to post your claptrap on this forum?

So the tsunami was God punishing people for rejecting him? Strange that he seems to save his wrath for some of the poorest (and probably more religious people) on the planet.

And maybe you would like to educate me on what that faith is? This should be interesting.

                    Re: Will not happen

How does anyone know what God communicates with his flock on a one to one level ? These questions are really very silly. One religion may be absolute, but that is a statement of its followers, not of all religions.

                      strange ...

The UK is probably one of the most godless countries on the planet - most surveys seem to show this. Yet God seems to have blessed us with wealth, a temperate climate, few, if any, natural disasters etc.
The people of south Sri Lanka, who include many devout Christians, on the other hand were hit with a violent natural disaster that destroyed everything.

No doubt this is part of God's nature (or plan for the greater good).
