The point is that the country as a whole lost out. No doubt it takes two to tango and the unions were as much to blame as Thatcher's government, but ultimately what transpired has blighted a generation and left a legacy of social problems we're still trying to solve. I may well be a little better off financially than I would otherwise have been but that's scant reward for having to live in a world where one feels uncomfortable.

This is what you don't seem to understand when you rant on about leftie hypocrites who don't really care about the poor, like you somehow have the moral high ground because you don't mind admitting you're a ****. Please don't make assumptions about me as you have no clue about my career or personal circumstances. I've paid max rate for years because I like to sleep at night and didn't join any suspect schemes to minimise tax liability. I didn't 'run away' from the UK I looked for opportunities elsewhere and was successful in doing that. I would be successful in anything I decided to do because of who I am and how my parents brought me up.

You continue to throw around generalities and you have no real argument to put forward. As one or two others have pointed out in different ways you really don't have a grasp of past policy and how it really affected this country. I'll leave it there and leave you to your blinkered views.

I do not know what your personal circumstances are and I dont like people who brag about themselves. If you are what you claim to be then you will understand that everyone should have the opportunity to be a success. So tell me what opportunities were there before Thatcher for people to succeed? and let me ask you another question -have there been more opportunities for people to succeed since Thatcher than there were before Thatcher?

I see no evidenced argument from you or from any other Thatcher hater that explains why she was bad for Britain. I see a great many cliches but I do not see anyone for example arguing that Britain was a better place for people to prosper before her time than it was after she left.

So you care about yourself, so why do so many of you pretend that you care about miners? The legacy of social problems was as a result of the failings of socialism and the failure of socialist institutions to prepare children for the world of work. I do not understand what this mythical world would have been had Thatcher not come along? Are you saying that there would be fewer social problems had we left everything alone in the 70s? if so please argue it don't just say it.

I can't recall anything like this in my 50 years on this Earth, people even forgave Beckham's kick on Simeone and Ronaldo doing Rooney's temper to get him sent off in EC 2004 I think, all forgotten now.

It's real tangible venom and vitriol and like I say, either it's real or it's misguided. But I know what I believe.

At the same time you then pillory Margaret Thatcher for destroying communities by removing their jobs from them. So what is going on? I can only deduce that there is one rule for you and another for everyone else.

I bet if you visited one of the Thatcher death celebratory parties and announced that you were a tax avoiding IT contractor who makes a killing building systems that put people out of work they would string you top the nearest lampost by whatever apology for bollocks you've got
