I really do picture you as an Alf Garnett character on the cusp of a paranoid psychotic breakdown, huddling under the kitchen table whimpering with fear, convinced that an army of social workers in dodgy cardigans are about to burst through your door at any moment.

FWIW, I think that the simplistic left-right division is wholly inadequate to capture the spectrum of political views, and that anyone that has convinced themselves that they sit at one or other end, or at some point in between, on this artificial "spectrum" is simply following tribal instinct and not thinking for themselves at all.

If you actually read and understood what I write, you would realise that I have a fairly balanced dislike for the entire political class, little time for ideologues of any persuasion and a mathematically grounded view of economics and social organisation which leaves little room for ideology. The fact that this often leads me to disagree with you isn't evidence of "deeply patronising arrogance" or "inverted snobbery", it's a result of your being a bit simple.

For the record, I have posted in the past that I would probably vote for Boris over most of the others because he has a bit of character. In fact I voted for him as Mayor and I think he's done quite well. That doesn't mean I can't also think he's a bit of a ****.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

      Mirror, kettle, pot, whatever...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

It's actually easy to watch live broadcast without forking out £145.50 a year.

Simply phone up TV Licensing, phone number, and cancel your licence or direct debit.

Put up a "Implied right of access denied" notice outside your door saying:

The implied right of access has been withdrawn for the following companies and their subsidiaries:

        TV Licensing
        Capita Business Services
        BBC
Watch as the TC Licensing salesman (private company) scratch their heads as they cannot access your property without being subjected to civil trespass legislation. People only get "caught" by opening the door and signing a form. The above stops that dead. They don't return.

And remember: a licence is only required for watching live broadcast, not playing games on a TV. So by buying a TV doesn't mean you have to buy a licence, despite the propaganda.

The automated letters from Capita are hilarious and are faux threats: they mean nothing - collect them and enjoy.

Laugh as you can watch live broadcast knowing that their 25 TV Detector vans are empty vans that are simply instruments of visual deterrent, as opposed to the database of licenced addresses vs households that have bought TVs/VCRs etc called LASSY, which is how the system works.

And for those that say "Oh, but the advert free BBC is an institution to be savoured and cherished", I'd say the business model is an anachronism in the digital age, and the BBC could be self funding as is implied by its commercial BBC World Service revenue through franchises, such as Top Gear etc.

hyperD - licence free for 4 years and enjoying it.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

But isn't there a risk that they don't understand the notice, ignore it, turn up at your house, ring the bell, you open it, and before you open your mouth they hear the blare of the Six O'Clock news in the background.

Won't that give them sufficient evidence to obtain a conviction in the magistrates court for TV licence fee evasion?

              God you're thick.
In spite of the fact that the unfettered markets you support have resulted in economic chaos around the world, you cling to your ideological world view like an infant clinging to his mother's skirts.
You have nothing to offer any debate but tired old cliches.
              Hard Brexit now!

You miss the point. The point is the BBC are publicly funded and we have to pay for them whether we want to or not via the TV licence. That's the objection. That a supposedly non-political publicly funded body with massive influence is not impartial.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

Don't be naive. The BBC has never been non-political, it is effectively Britain's propaganda machine abroad.
That is its real role, its tone has to be reasonable and friendly as that is the image that it is sanctioned to portray. Right wing rabidity (a la Fox news) would not go down well with its real target audience which is not really you and I.
