Im cooking for a dinner party for 10 and its been requested that I have a fish based main course. I'm reluctant to do something simple like a whole salmon but then can't get any inspiration for what else to cook.. any ideas?
there are 3 criteria:
- must be fish based
- nothing too spicy
- should be easily scalable to 10 people

Alternatively, any other recipe ideas for 10 people are also much appreciated for future reference
Pan fried whole Sea Bass with garlic sauce and potatoes. Make sure that the fish is intact with head and eyes etc. Makes a great dinner party course since you can then squeeze out the eye balls and squirt it all over. Love it !
Serves 4
Any sort of sustainable cod, haddock, halibut or organic farmed salmon is good for this
700g thick white fish fillets, skinned
1 tbsp finely grated ginger
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 long green chilli, finely sliced
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp panch phoron (Indian 5 spice)
1 extra tbsp mustard seeds
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
200ml water or stock
1 tsp ground cumin
Pinch cayenne
Half-tsp sugar
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
METHOD: Cut the fish into bite-sized chunks. Pound the ginger, garlic, chilli, turmeric and salt to a paste.
Heat the oil in a frying pan. When hot, add the panch phoron and mustard seeds and stir until the seeds start to crackle. Add the ginger and garlic paste and cook gently, stirring, for three minutes. Add the fish pieces and tomatoes, tossing well to coat, then add the water or stock, cumin, cayenne and sugar, and bring to a simmer, stirring. Simmer gently for five or six minutes or until the fish is cooked. Scatter with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Serve with fresh chillies that you can add for heat
