I remember parking the plane and going through the unoccupied tower/club/gate and seeing these furry brown animals inside. I stopped thinking they were some beavers/rats. They looked at me. I looked at them. I showed them my passport and they let me through.
I'm hoping to go back for another month later this year and spend some more time at Jandakot flying the C310.
The local wines in Freo are fantastic as well.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

ah ok. I am considering doing my commercial pilots license, but not sure how much work is around for pilots, especially in WA.
Like anywhere, not sure there is. If you do ab initio and get your frozen ATPL, you still have to find the 1500 total hours before you get airline a/c status.
Sponsorship is hard to come by and is age restricted.
Go to PPRUNE forums for more details and ask questions their. If you can afford it as a freelance, flying for recreation is fantastic in Oz. And cheaper.

Plus in WA you get to land on the road if there aint an airstrip and you fancy a pint
Depends what you want , if your young then Perth is not for you , but if your looking for somewhere safe to bring the kids up , cheap property prices , a great outdoor life and a place where your not spending a fortune on central heating then Perth is not bad.
But perhaps a fortune on aircon for your house.
If you want all the things you mention in your first sentence though, then you might as well just head off to NZ.
Personally I'll join the various others in saying that I found Perth/WA quite boring, certainly Fremantle etc seemed overrated and sort of a one horse/one street town. Nice to visit but so is Alaska...
