The Okura does a nice eggs Benedict.

I've had some great ontbijt here. Going there for high tea tomorrow.

Though I'm not so sure what this Ontbijt spek is all about

Ontbijtspek is just smoked bacon that's cut too thin to be worth bothering. I buy it at the butcher and ask him to cut it to 2 or 3 mm. If a butcher won't do that, I won't buy anything. Likewise Dutch bakers; DO NOT slice my bread; it ruins the taste and makes it go off after 2 days. If they act funny about not slicing the bread, I don't buy anything. You have to be assertive in educating cloggies about food; they're clueless.

As for Okura, maybe I'll try that next time I'm in AMS; most hotels in NL, even the 5 star places, treat breakfast as an afterthought and thoroughly ruin the impression they've made after a good night's stay. Again, clueless about food. If I've paid for a room and then you fob me off with your most clueless, feckless crappy staff at breakfast, scrambled egg that's been kept warm to the point of going dry and some nasty self service coffee machine spewing out that grotty coffee concentrate then I will not be visiting again and I will not be recommending you to my friends and associates. Although I think you will know this if you studied at Leith's.

I have spent more money on bad food in cloggers than I'd care to

Thankfully made friends with a local chef and local cafe owners so have been pointed in the direction of where to get the good stuff

Do try Gartine, as the food is fantastic, all home made, even the eggs come from their own hens and they have their own garden for the veg.

As for spek, I'm curing my own.

Caravan, in the Farringdon area, is excellent. Particularly if you like coffee.

              Fruit and Cereal?
Regional? (Burrito or eggs benedict etc)
Full Ameican or Corned Beef Hash
Or maybe French toast or pancakes?

              Not sure...
If you're in SF, try to get here at some point. Some of the best breakfasts I've ever had, anywhere.

When I was last in LA, I was disappointed with the food at main outlets. I walked away from the main road and found a mexican dinner, they did not speak english. Freshly made hash browns ham and eggs, really enjoyable

                      This morning I had

A bowl of granola with some plain yoghurt sprinkled with fresh blue berries and raspberries

                      A cup of coffee

                      A cup of orange juice

Then 8 pieces of fine crispy American bacon, a side of scrambled egg a single sausage and some ketchup

                      Another cup of coffee

Then a waffle with honey and fresh strawberries

Then another glass of orange juice

I then popped over and got a cinnamon Danish

With a final cup of coffee before heading back to my room where I now cannot get off the bed.

                      I feel a bit sick.
