Both were right to some extent.
So was Warhol. Anyone can be famous for 15 minutes; you don't even have to be able to do anything, in fact it probably helps if you're useless, feckless and lacking any kind of talent.
And then here's what celebrity culture does to human beings. It shows simplified pictures of people, takes away the complexity that makes them human and then stacks them up for sale like boxes of washing powder on supermarket shelves;
