i was more thinking of ideas on style of furniture etc. as I presumed atleast a few on here had setup an office (obviosuly excluding suity's playroom excuse of an effort).
the ikea design app is pretty good, but I am inclined to agree with others that buying something decent is going to last longer than something from IKEA. After all, this is my work and I even if I move to another place I'm likely to take the furniture with me and I don't intend on quitting contracting and going permie anytime soon.The proud owner of 125 Xeno Geek PointsComment

Too many things going on at the same time I'm afraid, were looking at moving out into the sticks to somewhere with more space and future proof but finding that perfect place is proving tough even with a healthy budget, hence the need for office space while the search continues.
Work is busy which is good from a financial point of view but then any spare time is spent fitting in holidays leaving not much time to look and find that perfect wedding venue.The proud owner of 125 Xeno Geek PointsComment

When I built my office last year I went to a kitchen worktop manufacturer and bough a 4000 x 90 x 40mm oak work top and set it at about 1.25 meters high along a side wall. I used brackets to attach it to the wall and a pair of the Ikea breakfast bar telescopic legs for counter balance.
then I bought the tall version of one of these HÅG Capisco 8107 and two Apple thunderbolt screens. because of the way the desk is set I can stand up to draw or take notes while on conference calls and I have a perfect ergonomic balance when sat typing.
worktop = £300
legs = £40
chair £1000
no more back pain and plenty of space to work = priceless
If you were building it in a shared office then I would just use four ikea legs rather than two.Comment
