        That, I'd say, is more concerning. Actually publishing what members of the public are searching for on their site could lead to problems with the ICO. Not because any of the entities being searched for have any right to privacy, but because of the information that it reveals about who has been searching for what.

          I doubt it would breach Data Protection laws, but it's a stupid thing to do on public site - only puts people off from using it, maybe he will start charging for searches done without being put into the list

              It does tell me that myco's bank balance was zero last year - this is not true.
              It was £8 - can I sue someone?

                Wasn't there an American website that tried to do that recently, except with mugshots of people arrested for minor offences, then charging the subject $200 for removal? He soon discovered that there's a difference between re-broadcasting publicly-available information, and selectively publicising information for the express purpose of blackmailing the subject.
