Mrs OG and I both work. I am comfortable with a mortgage level that I could afford if Mrs OG wasn't working and I had to take a 50k p.a. permie job.

Most I've had on a personal property was 2k a month interest only. (Same one as I have now) and that was at interest rates of around 5.5% (or 0.5% above base as is my lot). I personally thought that was a lot.
Since then interest rates have come down and now the same mortgage is about £350 per month.
I have been offset since they first came out, and always preferred the approach to have the equity immediately accessible and grow that by any means.
3k a month on £550k at the percentage rate you state would tulip me right up personally. I wouldn't do it.What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment
