Santander were the worst bank I have ever used - never had a problem with Lloyds or HSBC but Santander managed to cock everything up and have charges for everything. Then trying to actually close the account was a massive hassle - I would advise to go from Santander to Smile!

Santander is well known for having for having one of the worst service records going though.... Apart from a few server outages I haven't had to test it out thank god.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

That's my advice too. Many years ago I found out the hard way.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostI would not like my business and personal accounts to be linked in anyway!
Money paid into personal account got transferred to business account, business account overdraft cancelled. Folks said that was illegal, and it may have been, but I wasn't in a very strong position at the time.
Got left with 60 quid to my name when I was starting a contract the next week.
They compounded it by sending a separate letter for each and every standing order / direct debit which subsequently bounced, sending me way into the red. At twenty quid per letter I knew who the thieves were. [1]
I've never trusted one bank alone ever since. Cockups happen. Today it's Barclays' turn for an online banking outage
[1] The very same bank manager tried it on with an ex-colleague of mine and they were after his house. In the end he took them to court and won thousands. He was fortunate to have some backers with very deep pockets by that time.Last edited by Sysman; 22 May 2012, 14:44.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

Which is rather the point of investing in a super big widescreen monitor, isn't it?Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment
