    I look for buildings with a sign saying "Hotel" outside them.

        WHS. Bivvi bags and tents are the future. I stopped using hotels years ago.

          Generally, I rely on local knowledge and taxi drivers.

                I did see a really whizz bang super clever piece of code put together by one of CUK resident geniuses that searched the Travellodge website but I forget who it was.

                  Thanks for the replies

                  First of all, to pass the test - we have a maintenance guy who bleeds the radiators and makes sure the rooms are always warm, no DIY bleeding required!

                  We are based in Falkirk so There is a lot of large industry nearby (Mainly BP in Grangemouth and Longannet power station) although we are within 25 mins drive of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The reason we focus mainly on contractors is because Falkirk simply isn't a tourist town and Monday-Friday bookings are therefore preferred to the odd one-night booking, this is the reason we haven't advertised on the "main" hotel booking sites previously.

                  @Brillopad - We considered contacting larger companies in the region who would require contractors but the general opinion we had was that these companies wouldn't be involved in the booking of accomodation - we may like at this again and contact them to see if there are any options, there are a few other hotels in the area but to the best of my knowledge none of these focus on contractor bookings!

                  @amcdonald and old hack - we rarely get complaints about noise, the building was built in the 19th century with solid thick walls which ensures a good night sleep! We also have free wi-fi and guests are welcome to leave belongings over the weekend (we try to make things as comfortable and convenient as possible to encourage people to return)

                  @EternalOptimist - All our IT is done internally with no need to outsource so I'm afraid I'm unable to give you the information you require to make your business a success - if I had the information however, I would be happy to help

                  @Paddy - would a scottish breakfast suffice?

                    Only if you serve some nice Lorne sausage with it

                      What sort of contractors though? I stayed at one small hotel where it was half and half computer contractors and construction contractors.

                      We computer lads couldn't get a bath or shower when we got in on an evening because the other lot finished earlier than us and used all the hot water up.
