WHS.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostSo your definition of inequality is one person being dependent on another? I'm not sure that's right.
We have a family. All resources are for the benefit of the family. It doesn't matter who earns it.
Money is not and shouldn't be used as a weapon to settle differences or assert authority/control.
If that happens you've got more to worry about than whose turn it is to wear the trousers.

Well, yes, there is a problem there. Unfortunately I don't know what the answer is either, but adjusting things so that neither men nor women are financially independent and children get raised by the state is definitely not it IMO.Originally posted by k2p2 View PostThere is a fundamental problem that a stay at home mum (or dad, but usually mum) is not financially independent, and therefore not 'equal' (and is why child benefit is important). Which is fine if you're in a solid, well-balanced relationship, but not so fine when you're not, and becomes a total mess when that relationship finishes (see the many 'she's fleecing me' threads on this and other sites). Dunno what the answer is though.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

I was at a pub quiz about 20 odd years ago, and my missus casually mentioned(laughingly) that when I gave her x pounds that week, it was already spent.Originally posted by SupremeSpod View PostWHS.

Her cousin was there, and she went white and her jaw hit the table. She was absolutely horrified, and explained to me that in future I should hand over all my money, and get some weekly spends and expenses back off the missus
I think about this a lot. Its all to do with what you say, independance, power, control etc
