Do you throw litter on the street?

They can't even tackle the half-life of bicycle left locked on a British street at night being about 2 hours, so I don't hold out much for litter. Mind you, the British do have a problem understanding bikes. -
Reasons why there are a lack of bins at train stations:Originally posted by SimonMac View PostAlas I must admit that I do drop litter, when there is a bin near by I always hunt one out but I am getting more and more frustrated at the lack of bins in public places, especially train stations.
1. It's to stop people blowing things up - bins were removed from London Underground for years because of the IRA.
2. It's to stop people burning things in the bin when they discard their cigarette butts.
3. It's to save money - having a clear plastic bag as a bin means they can get any staff member to empty it rather than hire more cleaners."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Genius idea but there's a flaw in it isn't there?Originally posted by doodab View PostYou would think with all the CCTV cameras around in the UK they could just review the archive footage and send people fines based on that. This would result in
a) vast income for the exchequer at a time of need
b) lots of jobs for people watching CCTV thus reducing unemployment
c) an incentive for people to be more tidy so cleaner streets.Comment

So is dropping litter for someone else to pick up any different to spam-tagging threads for someone else to clean up?

Yep - no-one picked up doggy-doo twenty years ago. At best you'd kick it into the gutter.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostYou're getting older, oldies have always complained about litter. Seems to me it was worse in the past, and walking the pavements of tulip was like a doing a slalom. People would leave trails of tulip footprints behind them.Comment

All that litters is not gold.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostMake litter out of gold and there would be no litter problem, although it might taken a while to save up for your first Mars bar.Comment
