As others have said, spend some money on some new skills and at least make sure you are not losing current skills. A sysadmin at one of my clients used to spend some of his day on expert exchange solving problems. He had sold it to his bosses that he was strengthening his skills for them for free and they quite liked that idea. In the time I knew him he taught himself a few scripting languages and Java to go with his Unix Ninja Skills.

Coming from the West takes much longer from the populated areas and if you are deep in zone 1 then you can probably walk over the bridge into the Square Mile so wouldn't need a railcard

As it was I had no intention of handing my notice in at the current gig as I had seen them miss three previous start dates, and the no more renewals stance changed to an end of this year renewal...
