Lots of pundits now saying that the £42k limit for 40% tax will be reduced next year too, but by how much no one can say.Comment

Bastards! On page 29 of the budget pdf, it says the 40% threshold will come down by £2,125, so the amount you earn before paying 40% will be reduced by £1,025! Hopefully the consultation on integrating income tax and NICs and the GAAR will be handled well. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

You really think any chancellor or PM will allow showing true income tax rate of around 50% for everybody and much more for others?Originally posted by doodab View PostHopefully the consultation on integrating income tax and NICs and the GAAR will be handled well.Comment

"Cap on unlimited reliefs – The Government will, from 6 April 2013, introduce a new cap on income tax reliefs to ensure that those on higher incomes cannot use income tax reliefs excessively. For anyone seeking to claim more than £50,000 of relief, a cap will be set at 25 per cent of income (or £50,000, whichever is greater). The Government will explore with philanthropists ways to ensure this new limit of uncapped reliefs will not impact significantly on charities that depend on large donations. (Finance Bill 2013) (4)"
Well, there go massive donations from natural persons - they'd be expected to pay tax on those
