Amazinlgly I just got a 10% increase if that counts. I was expecting a few extra quid(3-4%) on renewal next week and out of the blue without any negotiation they just went(we've got you an extra 10%).

Of course I made I sure I sounded disappointed.

I was offered a ten percent cut by a big legal client

Told them to stuff it, the two significant gigs I've had since then have been a twenty and a ten percent increase respectively

A renewal on a lower rate is a piss-take, don't do it!

10% cut, just renew and take the piss and when you can be bothered and the market picks up go for a 20%-30% increase in your next role ! boomed, show them your ar*e as you walk out the door.
