              Truth is we are all in that boat. Just heard that another raft of permies got a quiet offer to sod off and bother someone else at my current client co. Meanwhile I got a last minute offer of a 3 month renewal. (just 3 hours too late.)

              The warning should read: The only thing between you and the door are your skills, and the slimmer your skills are, the easier it is to push you through the door...

                Matey, this is the kind of example we need to see more of.
                I'm based in my current contract because of a helluva recommendation from a guy I worked with two contracts ago. He was permie there and is contracting now.....and he's in because of a recommendation from two of the contractors already here. We're currently trying to get more good people in as there's a good chance it'll ramp up even more in the next six months

                      That is bulltulip, if budgets change or priorities change or some new bean counter wants to show he can cut costs then contractors a first out the door, regardless of skill. You are heading for disappointment if you think you will have a never ending contract because your skills are in demand at the client.
