People dont think about the low production of power per m2, the amount of materials that go in to a windmill or other renewable energy solutions that make it environmentally harmful.

I would suggest anyone who wants to read a fair subjective report, not sponsored by evil companies such as RES, have a read through this mans blog and download his pdf by searching google for "nuclear heresies":

      I blame Diver.
I have never been nor will I ever be involved with windmills or the grinding of corn etc.

I work exclusively with offshore wind turbines, tidal turbines and wave driven generators.

I think the main thing about renewables, is to try and get an element of power from all renewable sources i.e. don't concentrate on one area, use them all. Hain's just quit to put more effort into the Severn barage, which has the second largest tidal range in the world. I think more effort should be put into planning now to encourage all builders to make use of alternative, renewable sources.

I know the hype, and arguments, but it makes sense to try and reduce ones reliance, over reliance, on external suppliers, who'll soon have all of us over a barrel.

The only thing I have to offer on this thread is how similar PooperScoopers posting style was to Wim121.

          Just saying like.

I looked at spending £3,000 on getting a duel fuel/woodburner installed so that I could cut down on my gas bills.

Willow is where it's at. Plant half an acre of willow, and within 2 years, you'll be self sufficient in wood, for wood burning purposes.

I think if you do it, you have to do it full scale, you have to do ground source, you have to put a small windmill, solar panels, solar water, as one in its own, will not simply do enough, in my opinion.

I am thinking of migrating to South West France, buying a good 5-10 acre plot of land (currently cheap as chips) within a construction zone, or a zoned area for building near a community and building a full scale eco house . From initial research, it seems you get more of a feed in tarif, have more sunshine and have more of a chance to be completely energy self sufficient. As much as you can be. I was offered 5 acres in North Dordognshire for €15k yesterday, and believe that could be negotiated down. I looked at a small 1.5 acre field in the South Hams at the weekend, which was £25k.

Might even start looking for foreign gigs

No, they weren't the same person. Pooper was always saying how great everywhere he was living was. Wim was just looking for somewhere with no gay people. He wouldn't have liked Germany, too liberal, too many rights for women etc.

I put Pooper's disappearance down to the Euro's recent poor performance, he knows he's going to get ripped when he comes back.
