Finally accepted (stopped denying) that I've got the drinking demon that so many people have. I don't facy ending up on a park bench with a can of tennants which is where it ends up ultimately.

Like doodab says so many people drink heavily and don't think it's a problem because it's so "normal"
I think nothing of going through 7 bottles of wine a week. I've actually cut down. I was doing 1.5 a night, so I've cut down and moved on to whisky. Problem is I'm now doing 5 bottles and a bottle of whisky. Then if I go out Im having 5/6 pints while Im out. I dont really notice it, but I have piled on the weight though. I've even hidden a few bottles in the last few months.

Just need to get in a different routine. It's become habit and it's a little difficult to break.

It used to be slightly shameful to drink in your house, now it just seems to be the way it is, most of the pubs round here have shut and most of the rest are tulipe.

What Soupy said. I tend to not bother with the boozer much at all, preferring to visit someone but mostly just have a couple at home. As for quantity, I probably drink 5-6 nights a week but only rarely get really pi$$ed, but I'm finding it hard keeping the gut down in the last couple of years, which I think is a bigger problem. Sitting behind a computer and taking on an extra 300-600 calories nearly every night of the week catches up on you. (Where's that fat ass smiley).

          Um, does it?

Prior to falling preggers, I was a binge drinker - weekends with friends. I don't actually like the taste of alcohol generally though, and would never drink at home on my own.

I like the idea of a glass of wine after work, it sounds grown up. In reality I'd rather have a glass of milk.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

I'm breaking my 6 day dryness, having a few pints of Nastro Azzurro with my big brother Andy, I am blessed to have such an intelligent brother.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Hidden from who? I used to do this as well.

I don't have the homing beacon/cut off point unfortunately. I'll just keep going and going until I pass out

One thing my councellor told me is that the older you get the more damage you will take in later life. He asked me what kind of 'golden years' I'd like to have? I could have a painful slow decline suffering from arthritis etc, stuck in a wheelchair - or do I want to be one of these fit as a fiddle pensioners hopping on and off planes jetsetting around the place.

What would happen would be a result of if I chose my 'drinking career' over life without as unfortunately (what I've accepted and so many other people eventually have to accept as well) there is no middle way. Many people choose the drinking career and the park bench - or give up too late and end up with no family/kids/career/money etc and just a badly screwed up body and nasty slow decline.

Yes I am making myself feel better for knocking it on the head by the way

Very odd. I didn't drink on Tuesday and felt terrible on Wednesday.

On Wednesday night I felt like death, had a few large whiskeys and a bottle of wine. Thursday right as rain.

Last night, went for a long walk, exercised, water, healthy meal, no alcohol.

I feel like tulip this morning. I wonder if it's just coincidence?

No it's because your body is ****ed. You need a minimum 2 weeks off the booze to let your liver regenerate, also an ultrasound to check if your liver has gone past the point of no return. If it has then every time you drink you are edging a little closer to death.

It's the whiskey that does it. I don't go near the stuff anymore, cos I know that it's a matter of time before knocking back half a bottle one evening lands me in intensive care or worse.

Mrs Jog had to go on valium when she came off drinking
