I have very few designer labels, my car is a bit of a wreck but I spend when appropriate, I will rarely spend on myself (hence why I thought I would treat myself to a new watch) but when it comes to the kids I will never think about the money, I just think have they been good enough to warrant a treat or do they really need something new.

Why work your arse of and have a stock pile like Scrooge McDuck if you don't know how to enjoy spending it?

It's still no consolation. My Dad left sh!tloads of money when he died and I'll bet my Mum would swap it all to have him back.

          Simon,

I have justified / argued for spending on a reasonable car (Pathfinder with built in multi media system) simply with the argument/justification that now we have children, and as we are not stretching ourselves, if we don't spend a few quid on a car, and if we get into an accident in a banger, we'll be the idiots for keeping the money in the bank and not spending a higher % of our net worth on the safest family chariot we can reasonably afford

The big Nissan is fantastic for long journey's I couldn't feel safer transporting my family and the multi media system helps while away the hours on long journeys

I live within my means but enjoy good food and wine, nice clothes and a decent car, still need to look at other means of retirement investment.

At least I enjoy life and can afford to support my other half as he's currently studying.

I do ensure that I've a healthy war chest in case of emergency.

I'm a very generous man. Infact I've been known to hand out great wads of £50 notes just for a +ve rep.

My kids don't live with me so thats not a factor, my current gig includes an hour and a half commute each way, I am just planning on driving the current car (which is not quite a wreck, 2004 MG) into the ground and replacing it when I secure my next gig which will hopefully be closer to home so I don't have to worry about putting 1000 miles a week on the odometer.
