I think the problem is that the leg bone connected to the knee bone, and the knee bone connected to the thigh bone, and the thigh bone connected to the hip bone. With the hip bone connected to the back bone, and the back bone connected to the neck bone, and the neck bone connected to the head bone, Oh those bones, oh those bones, oh those skeleton bones.

My guess would be inflammation where the tendon joins the kneecap; I've had the same thing in the past myself. Hopefully nothing serious but getting to a doctor is a bit difficult.
To cap it all, it snowed overnight and I've got rather slippery shoes on making walking difficult...You won't be alerting anyone to anything with a mouthful of mixed seeds.Comment

Apparently there are two sorts of pills for it, but the one that works best needs to be taken forever. See a doctor and look to change your diet... With a proper change in diet you don't need the pills, but Ibuprofen is OK to relieve the swelling. Do NOT overdo it on the Ibuprofen - that stuff causes other problems when taken long term.
Lentils are bad.
Baked beans are bad.
Soya ain't good. Yippee, an excuse!

Probably that. Don't do any exercise (unless you include Kegel), definitely getting older and the diet is not the best. About 3 years ago it was playing up and I went to my doctor(1) who did a few x-rays but couldn't find anything so just got some cream and a big thick strappy sock support thing which helped. When I get home I'll put the strappy sock thing on and see what happens after a week or so. For me its very important for this knee to be in good working condition as its the only one that works! The other one got broken into hundreds of bits nearly 30 years ago and no longer bends so all weight goes onto the good knee. Its not too bad at the moment but trying to straighten the leg while sitting down is a bit hard.
