Just a case or which country has got the fastest black person.
Would it be racist to enquire if all the 100m winners of the last decade or two originate from a particular [small] geographic region? And are they all related?

Same view here, we were considering it, once in a lifetime etc but don't think we will bother, if there are any unsold tickets nearer the time we may make an effort.

I'd like to go, but as it sounds as if it's going to be crowded I'll probably give it a miss.

Hardly once in a lifetime, the Olympics are every 4 years.

If I had any inclination to go to an Olympics it wouldn't be in a crappy bit of one of the hardest cities on the planet to travel to/in where the weather is likely to be utterly crap.

Well the best result I got from a search just now was West Africa for 100m runners, though claims also pertain to success being due in no small part to training and to socio-economic reasons and other guff. But then I need only look at the shape of 100m winners and conclude that no amount of training would turn a Brit into that shape. Wouldn't it be fascinating if all 100m runner's genes could be traced back to a small geographic area. Smaller than 'West Africa' at least.

Thanks to having worked for one of the sponsors, my tickets are in the post. I have first refusal on some events if anyone's interested. Also got some official loot, using it as prizes in an upcoming 'silly olympics' competition at a kids' club. shit: that reminds me, I have a helicopter flight around the olympic park to choose dates for.

But I don't like to talk about it.

We may go and see the fencing too.
Pogle jr is a keen fencer, shes been doing it for a couple of years now, so it would be good to see it at the top level
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

Pogle is awarded +5 Xeno Geek Points.

and you forgot where the tubes/trains will be on strike.

It will be interesting to see how the local infrastructure will handle the visitors, not to mention those of us trying to get into work on a daily basis.

There have been calls for city workers to work from home during the games
