Unlike elected politicians, Charles actually believes in things, says what he thinks, and puts what he sees as the interest of the nation before personal or party gain.

Whether you agree with him or not, straight speaking makes a nice change from political speak. For example, this morning I heard Alistair Darling being asked why, if the government are trying to cut down on fuel emissions, they have approved new runways for various airports. His answer, in brief, was that the government have done very well at improving the railways. WTF?

If you ever listen to discussions in the House of Lords, you will notice a big difference to the Commons. The Lords actually have a considered debate.

Who cares what 'HRH Big Ears' thinks? He doesn't live in the real world and his opinions count for nothing.

How can someone who has a footman to squeeze his toothpaste, has never had a real job, no mortgage, no worries about getting and keeping a job know what it's like to be unemployed, cold in winter, fighting to get their kids into decent schools etc, worried about the state of the NHS?

The opinions of Martians would be just as relevant.

I've worked doing IT all my life, so I guess I'm just as bad.

threaded in "I must be a martian then" mode.

I recently wrote an article in a motoring magazine about the new liebour Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation highlighting that exact duplicitous remark from the lying, deceitful badger.

Are we sure these diaries are stolen? If so then the paper is guilty of handling and possibly is an accessory after the fact. Charles has every right to his diary being private.

I was under the impression Chuck had circulated his thoughts (thus negating his claims to privacy). It is one of the circulees who has given the diaries away without consent.

As he and other rich and landed gentry dont have to worry about where the next meal is coming from or having a roof over their heads gives them a unique viewpoint of the plight of others. If he has a social conscience (which he does appear to have) then he has valid opinions and has a platform from which to air them.

You are fully aware that only elected politicians (and then only those elected as left-wing polticians) are smart enough to know what is good for us.

I believe this is the angle the media is trying to come from. However that does not negate the fact that they received "stolen" copies of his diaries from a former employee.

Even if Charles had circulated his diaries to "selected" interested parties...the fact that the media was not amongst this group negates their arguement.

Whether Charlie has or hasnt worked a single day of his life in so called "real" employment is neither here nor there.

Mailman: I think Chasers crew is trying to play the privacy card in that his diaries are personal, but if that were the case he wouldnt have circulated them.
If the person who gave them to the press acquired them legaly then the press are not in receipt of stolen items.

Personally I find this practice disturbing, but if the presses hands were always tied then the people may never find out things that they should know.

Bottom line is. If Charles wants his thoughts kept private then he should keep them in his head.

Just for the record, I am actualy a bit of a Royalist on the quiet.
