WHSOriginally posted by Doggy Styles View PostHere's the answer - start by getting rid of Beckham.
Get a fooking full time national team - make Premiership clubs play once a week against national team - since they are full of foreign players anyway this should give good experience for the national team that will be doing it every week.
If they win proper then they will be loaded with cash - if they lose then they'll only themselves to blame.Comment

I was misguidedly optimistic as ever, something was amiss but it wasn't my fault!
What we really need is a crap league so foreign players aren't attracted and some of ours can go abroad and learn the craft.
Or we simply limit the number of foreign players, either way we need more English guys playing top flight football, if the PL and CL suffer then so be it, can't have it both ways.
Spain and Italy both have 40-45% foreign players, the PL has something like 65%. No further proof needed but our FA continue to take Murdoch's money and the cycle continues.
If you really want to help, cancel Sky sports!Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

A lot of countries pick their teams from the English lower leagues - including Conference/Blue Square. They seem to do better than a team mainly from the Premiership. Just put the Premiership to one side and ignore it if you want committed players and ones where the manager will not stop them playing for the national side.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostWHS^

Because it pumps money into the game attracting the worlds best talent, fine for the best league but it's bound to have a detrimental effect on home grown talent.Originally posted by AtW View Post

Of course there is the alternative of a foreign player quota but the clubs don't want to know as it will mean fielding weaker teams for the CL.
In short the FA thinks the lucrative Premier League is more important than international success.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? So all that talent will leave making EPL tulip league...Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostBecause it pumps money into the game attracting the worlds best talent, fine for the best league but it's bound to have a detrimental effect on home grown talent.
My solution is better - make EPL clubs play two extra games against national team - 40 games per year, that covers 40 weeks for constantly training working as a single unit national team: those guys could be nobodies but they'd have to perform or they are out.
Allow people vote on that as well and it will be kewl... certainly results won't be as bad as they are now!Comment

Clubs and players already complain that there are too many games, you want more?Originally posted by AtW View PostSo all that talent will leave making EPL tulip league...

A few questions:
Where would the established stars like Gerrard stand? Would he have to decide between club or country? Who is going to pay the international players? If they were any good they'd be off to a club to earn more shirley? Where in the known universe has this model been shown to work!
Less foreigners = more English players at the highest level, unlike your idea this has been proven to work in Italy, France, Germany and Spain.Science isn't about why, it's about why not.
