If you were paid 100k a week to prance around for 90 minutes, would you consider becoming a poofter?Originally posted by SupremeSpod View PostI'd rather not. Football is for poofters.

That's one of the things I mean by Sun-reader - you think you can manage the team better than Capello and all his predecessors back to Ramsey.Originally posted by Saddo View PostWell I don't read The Sun, ogling big boobs in a tabloid was so 70's.
I think you might be onto something - the main problem today is the players that are on the pitch. But that comes back to the manager. At the world cup Capello kept picking Rooney and left Crouch on the bench, and Crouchy was the one popping the goals in for England. Even Hesky got called in as a substitute before Crouchy, which was about as daft a decision as I've ever seen in football.
I think it's time that we gave the present playing squad their bus passes. Get Alan Johnson from Man City in there though, he's dynamite. Pity we can't have Tevez because his work rate is outstanding.
And drop f*****g Rooney. He did a very good support job a couple of games ago feeding all 4 balls which led to goals scored, but centre forward he ain't.

If it was simply a case of compiling the most popular list of players and sending them onto the pitch, I'm sure someone would have thought of that before. In fact someone has, down at Ebsfleet, but that's another story. A coach has to fit players together and use horses for courses.
You see, until the world cup Rooney had scored 30 goals for his club in the premier league and the champions league. With that pedigree, nobody would seriously have suggested dropping him from the world cup. Lampard had also had an excellent season for club and country, as had Barry, Ashley Cole, Terry, Gerrard, Green and Lennon. And this time England qualified for the world cup in style.
So what happens every year, during the months of April, May and June, that leaves all these players looking ordinary when they turn up for tournaments?Comment

Are you referring to the ubiquitous media frenzy that erupts convincing the players that they are so fooking brilliant they only need to turn up?Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostSo what happens every year, during the months of April, May and June, that leaves all these players looking ordinary when they turn up for tournaments?
Or do you mean the business end of the season at which point most of the trophies are decided upon?
If it is the latter, does that particular event not coincide with leagues all across the globe?
